Dia 5 de Dezembro é o dia Internacional do Voluntário e cada ano é oficialmente reconhecido pelas Nações Unidas como um dia em que voluntários ao redor do mundo são reconhecidos e celebrados por toda contribuição e dedicação.

Neste dia, queremos agradecer os mais de 3 milhões de voluntários adultos do Escotismo: aqueles que trabalham diretamente com os jovens e aqueles que apóiam o Escotismo em muitas outras áreas em vários níveis. Sem eles, não existiria Escotismo!

Com o apoio de voluntários, os escoteiros estão ajudando na construção de um mundo melhor e mais pacífico.

Por falar em serviço ao próximo, o fundador do Escotismo, Robert Baden-Powell, escreveu: “Dois caminhos se revelam a todo homem – o ego ou o do serviço. Ele tem que escolher o que realmente o motiva. O ego é mais confortável; serviço envolve sacrifício. Se um companheiro não é capaz de se sacrificar, não deveria ser chamado de homem. Mas quando ele pratica como expressar melhor seu amor, fica seguro que a vida será para ele algo real e feliz”.

Em 1985, a Assembléia Geral das Nações Unidas designou o 5 de Dezembro com uma celebração anual da ação voluntária de pessoas, comunidades e governos do mundo. O Dia Internacional do Voluntário (IVD) é para os voluntários de todos os modos de vida que trabalham em comunidades ao redor do globo. VOLUNTEERS MAKE SCOUTING POSSIBLE
International Volunteer Day is December 5th each year and is officially recognized by the United Nations as a day on which volunteers around the world are recognized and celebrated for their contributions and dedication.

On this day we want to thank the more than 3 million adult volunteers in Scouting: those who work directly with young girls and boys, and those who support Scouting in so many other capacities at all levels. Without them, there would be no Scouting!

With the support of volunteers, Scouts are helping to make a better, more peaceful, world.

In speaking of service to others, Scouting's Founder Robert Baden-Powell wrote:" Two courses lie open to every man - self or service. He has to choose for himself which is to be his real motive. Self is the more comfortable; service involves sacrifice. If a fellow is not capable of sacifice he should not call himself a man. But where he practices it the better to express his love, let him be assured that life will be to him a very real and happy posession."

In 1985, the United Nations General Assembly designated 5 December as an annual celebration of voluntary action by people, communities and governments of the world. International Volunteer Day (IVD) is for volunteers of all walks of life working in communities around the globe.
